Bad Jokes

It’s wedding season. Everyone is busy, stressed and tired.  As we two girls were surrounded by a sea of flowers, we were overcome by a laughing fit. You know the kind…. where you know what your are laughing about is just ridiculously inane and yet, you cannot stop.

What was this uncontrollable fit all about? Bad jokes… really bad flower jokes. Now let’s face it, sometimes all you need to make a long day better is a really corny joke and, of course, a can you top this really bad joke contest is even better.

Here are a few that made us laugh:

  • If April showers bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring?  Pilgrims.
  • Which flower is a troublemaker? A dis-aster
  • What do you get when you plant kisses? Tulips
  • Why couldn’t the gardener plant any flowers? He hadn’t botany.
  • What do you call a country that drives only pink cars? A pink car-nation.
  • If you aren’t friends, what you are? Anemones
  • What did the lawyer say to the judge? Iris my case!
  • What did the old flower say to the younger flower? What’s up, bud?

Two friars are having trouble paying off the belfry, so they open a florist shop.
Everyone wants to buy flowers from the men of God so business is quickly booming.
The florist across town sees a huge drop in sales and asks the two friars to close their shop,
but they refuse.
A month later the florist begs the friars to close because he’s having trouble feeding his family.
Again, they refuse, so the florist hires Hugh McTaggert.
Hugh is the roughest, toughest thug in town and is hired to “persuade” the friars to close.
Hugh asks the friars to close their florist shop.
When they refuse, he threatens to beat them and wreck their shop every day they remain open, so they close.
This proves once again that Hugh and only Hugh can prevent florist friars.

A weed is a plant that has mastered every survival skill
except for learning how to grow in rows.

And we two girls who love our husbands, still giggled at this one:

Grow your own dope……..Plant a man

Now go out and have a joke-filled, belly laugh, wholesale flower-filled day!

Non Traditional Flower Ideas

We two girls read alot of blogs about flowers, weddings, brides, etc. Recently, we came across a few non traditional ways to use flowers at a wedding and we liked them so much we thought we’d share!

Here are a few of our favorites!

1.  We live here in Florida and we LOVE our outdoor weddings. Sometimes though, the weather doesn’t cooperate and the last thing you want is your guests to sit in a puddle of sweat. Hand out fans for your guests to use during the ceremony and attach some flowers to make a pretty statement.

And dress them up with a few flowers to get the best of both worlds.

2. Using greenery in a big way is very popular. This wedding idea uses a calligraphed leaf as a place card!

3. This wedding party in lieu of bouquets, carried a garland as a way to ‘connect’ the wedding party down the aisle.

And last but not least, a cool topper for a traditional centerpiece look: A chic looking lampshade on top of a submerged flower cylinder design.

Everyone expects flowers at a wedding, but there are plenty of ways to use flowers that will give YOUR big day a special twist!

We’ve Been Busy!

These last few weeks our blog has been on hold and we’ve missed sharing with you! With wedding season  in full swing,  consultations and wedding shows, we’ve been busy! There’s lots of new items we’ve been showing and doing! Here is just a few highlights from the last few weeks!

The Beso Del Sol venue in Dunedin had their Weddings On The Water show and we were so happy to be there! Lots of wonderful vendors and guests to meet and talk with! We showcased the popular request of colors for this fall, beautifully vibrant purples, yellows, oranges, reds, and greens! Here are some designs from that show:

There is something special about having a wedding on a ship! This lovely wedding was a nautical themed wedding on the Yacht Starship in Tampa! The bride’s wedding colors were Navy, Pink & Green and we loved the blue and white striped runners against the soft pink, white, & green flowers!

We don’t just create designs for weddings, we also do parties and corporate events. This was a dinner on the Yacht Starship’s new addition, the Sensation, which is docked in Clearwater Marina! A small intimate event for 50 people, with something small and sweet for the tables there.

Lots more events coming this month that we are looking forward to being a part of!

If you can, join us for the wedding show at the Carrollwood Country Club on Monday, April 27th, We’re sure you will find something special there to see. You can register for this event here:  https://www.facebook.com/events/524769124328822/

Remember, if you are planning an event or a wedding, call us for a free consultation. We’d love to be a small part of your BIG day!

Time….

We’d like to talk about time. Especially for those who are thinking there’s plenty of it.

Think about it … as of right now, how much ‘spare’ time do you have in any given week?

Between work & household demands, possibly children and/or pets, and all the day to day things that get in front of you when you least expect it, how much time do you really have to devote to planning a big event like a wedding or party? 2 hours a week? 3 if you’re lucky? Now put that together with the fact that you have at least 5 major vendors (venue, caterer, dj, flowers & cake) to contact, meet with, narrow down choices and contract with. Then include finding either a wedding gown and/or fancy dress, suits, shoes, for yourself and possibly additional family members or friends. And what about all the smaller items, but no less important ones such as invitations, specialty linens if you’re choosing to have them, favors, hair appointments and a million other little things that you may need to acquire and/or do?

Now… think again. How much time do you really have?

Untitled

It’s less than you think.

And what’s more, in many cases during all that time you thought you had before really getting down to business with your planning & search, those vendors you want, will have booked up before you ever started your interview process. So now you’re left scrambling! Or it’s so close to your date that the items you wanted/needed to get have to be substituted for a second choice because the things you REALLY wanted are  no longer available.

We two girls can tell you…the worst feeling when trying to plan a big event, is that of feeling pressured. The best feeling is knowing that you’ve got a plan of action, a time frame in which to do everything and the satisfaction of knowing that you’ve gotten everything done with time to spare.

So, how much time do you think you have in which to put everything in place for your big day?  Not as much as you think.  How early should you start planning for your event? Start now!

Now plan some time for a wholesale flower filled day!
